Hello and welcome!

I am currently a postdoctoral researcher at Lisbon School of Economics and Management working on the causal links between changes in relative transport accessibility and the emergence of sociopolitical discontent, with Bruno Rocha , Patrícia Melo , João Abreu e Silva, João Abreu e Silva, Maurício Carvalho and Nuno Afonso.

I completed my PhD at the Université de Lille in the Lille Economics and Management (LEM, CNRS UMR 9221), under the supervision of Jan Fidrmuc and Nicolas Debarsy. My thesis is about the regional aspects of European economic integration, with a focus on EU Structural and Investment Funds and EU border regions. My job market paper, Out of the Dark into the Light? Border Urban Municipalities and Eastern EU Enlargements , assesses the impact of integration on the border areas of the Eastern EU enlargements.

Until June 2026, I was a research associate at the Department of Architecture and Urban Studies (DAStU) at Politecnico di Milano, where I worked on a project about the spatial and territorial effects of e-commerce with Ilaria Mariotti , Federica Rossi , Tommaso Cigognetti , and Dimitris Manoukas.

Before starting my PhD, I was a policy analyst at the Institute for Strategy and Analysis at the Government Office of the Slovak Republic. Among other things, I was part of the team working on the Reports on Productivity and Competitiveness of the Slovak Republic for the years 2019 and 2020.

My research interests comprise regional and urban economics, policy evaluation, causal inference, political economy, digital economy, economic history and applied econometrics.
